RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Pakistan army conducted a raid in the South Waziristan tribal region on Saturday and killed top al-Qaeda commander Adnan Al Shukri Aljuma and one his companion, the Director General Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asim Bajwa wrote on his twitter account.
The DG ISPR said that five militants were also arrested during the raid.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif appreciated the raiding team for conducting a successful operation.
The army chief said that the terrorists will be chased and eliminated from the soil of Pakistan without any discrimination, according to Bajwa.

The top al-Qaeda commander was killed on early morning in the Shinwarsak region of South Waziristan agency, the media reported citing a statement by the ISPR.
The statement said that Adnan Al Shukri Aljuma had moved in this area to hide in a compound from North Waziristan due to the ongoing Zarb-e-Azb operation.
“His accomplice and local facilitator were also killed in the raid,” the statement said.
The statement said that Adnan Al Shukri Aljuma was a member of the core al-Qaeda leadership and was in charge of all external operations of al-Qaeda.
