RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: Three Pakistan army soldiers embraced martyrdom (Shahadat) and two were injured in Awaran district of Balochistan, according to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

In a statement issued on Thursday, the ISPR said that an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded when an army convoy was passing through an area of Awaran district.

Resultantly, the ISPR added, three soldiers including Captain Taha, Sepoy Kamran Satti and Sepoy Mehtar Jan were martyred while two more soldiers sustained injuries.

In a statement, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) said the three more sons laid their lives for motherland at Awaran.

“None can deter our resolve to defeat enemies and safeguard our Pakistan,” the COAS said.

Today’s IED blast in Awaran is part of a new wave of terror incidents which have struck various parts of the Country within a few days. Not only Civilians but government officials, army personnel and police officials have also been targeted in these blasts.

Even yesterday, a Judges’ Van was targeted by a suicide bomber in Hayatabad area of Peshawar while another suicider killed three Levies Force personnel in Mohmand agency.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif expressed grief over demise of Captain Taha and two Sepoys who embraced martyrdom while an IED exploded on their convoy in Awaran.

In his statement, the prime minister said that enemy can only resort to such cowardly acts and cannot face the valiant forces of Pakistan. He said that armed forces have shown through their sacrifices that defence of the motherland is in safe hands.

“Martyred soldiers are pride of the nation,” he said.

The prime minister also expressed condolences with the bereaved families of the martyrs.
