PESHAWAR: The outlawed Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has said that the government will have to take some steps to assure the Taliban that it is serious in talks to bring peace; however, the terror outfit said that final decision about the dialogue will be taken by the new chief of the TTP, media reports said.

Four demands include:

1- Enforcement of Sharia across Pakistan

2-Withdrawal Pakistan Army troops from the tribal region along the border with Afghanistan

3-Stopage of US drone strikes in Pakistan

4-Release Taliban militants from jails

In a statement, the TTP spokesman Shahidullah Shahid said that the government will have to accept their four demands if it is serious in initiating the dialogue process with the Taliban.

The TTP spokesman said that the government will have to enforce Sharia across the country and withdraw soldiers from the tribal region along the border with Afghanistan.

Shahid said that the US drone strikes in the country’s northwest must stop and further demanded the government to release Taliban militants which are imprisoned in Pakistani jails.

Moreover, the TTP spokesman said the Pakistani government is powerless. He said that the way Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif pleads the US for halting drone attacks, even a common tribal man could do so.

The spokesman further said that they will not forgive killers of Hakimullah Mehsud and will chase them even in the far flung areas of Punjab and Balochistan.

Shahidullah Shahid said his group will continue its activities against security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as most of the action was being taken against them in this province. However, he said, they will not target common people.
