Sindh apex committee decides to expedite operation against terrorists

KARACHI, Pakistan: The Sindh apex committee has decided to continue across the board operation with increased tempo against terrorists.

The decision was taken in its meeting held at Corps Headquarters in Karachi on Thursday to review the ongoing operation to hunt down terrorists and those committing heinous crimes.

The apex committee meeting was attended by Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad, Director General Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lt General Rizwan Akhtar, Inspector General (IG) Sindh Ghulam Hyder Jamali, Chief Secretary Sindh, Director General of Military Intelligence (DGMI), Director General Military Operations (DGMO) Amir Riaz and Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Major General Asim Bajwa.

During the meeting, it was decided to apprehend criminals and their abettors regardless of political, religious, ethnic, sectarian or any other affiliations and proscribed outfits.

It was decided that a system would be developed for strict checking at all entry and exit points of Karachi. It was agreed that an Intelligence sub-committee of the apex committee would coordinate and synergise civil-military intelligence effort for optimally effective Intelligence Based operations.

The meeting decided that all financial channels funding to criminals and militants and terrorists will be checked. It decided that there would be effective policing and surveillance in vast suburbs of Karachi to prevent sneaking terrorist attacks.

It was decided that there would be transparent and merit based appointment of various department officials with oversight mechanism to help the system for long term sustainability.

In addition, during the meeting the Intelligence agencies were directed to work together to exploit existing leads to nab terrorists and criminals. It was also decided to hold regular and meaningful weekly meetings of the apex committee.
