ISLAMABAD: Pakistan said on Thursday that it supports peace talks between US and Taliban officials to bring peace and stability in Afghanistan.

“Pakistan fully supports Afghan reconciliation process and all groups to the issue should be involved in this process,” foreign ministry spokesman Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhry told a weekly press briefing in Islamabad on Thursday.

The spokesman said “Pakistan also supports US-Taliban negotiations to bring peace and stability in Afghanistan,” adding that Pakistan extended all possible assistance to promote reconciliation process in Afghanistan.

Chaudhry said Pakistan’s stance over the drone attacks is clear which are in violation of its territorial sovereignty. He said Pakistan has taken the issue of drone attacks with United States at all levels and will continue its strides to stop them.

Regarding the visit of US Secretary of John Carry to Pakistan, he said it has been postponed not cancelled and new date of visit will be announced soon.

On the issue of Pak-Iran Gas Pipeline, the spokesman said it will be implemented at all cost to overcome energy crisis in the country.
