Four levies personnel killed in exchange of fire with militants in Mastung

QUETTA: An exchange of fire took place between the levies force and armed men in Balochistan’s troubled Mastung district on Wednesday, killing 4 levies personnel and injuring 10 others including a Spanish tourist.

The levies sources said the levies personnel were escorting the foreign tourist enroute to Pakistan via Iran when unknown gunmen sprayed bullets on their vehicles in Dringhar area of Mastung.

Subsequently, an exchange of gunfire began between the gunmen and levies personnel which resulted in the killing of four levies men, while 10 others including a Spanish tourist were also injured during the clash.

The bodies and injured were shifted to a hospital in Mastung, where the tourist is said to be in stable condition.

The local administration sought additional deployment of frontier corps (FC) and anti-terrorist force (ATF) personnel.
