QUETTA: Several people including Deputy Commissioner Quetta Abdul Mansoor Kakar were killed and several others were injured when a blast took place in emergency department of Bolan Medical college (BMC) hospital in Quetta wherein female students injured in earlier blast were being treated. There are also reports of heavy firing outside the hospital.

An operation was carried out by security personnel to free the BMC from heavily armed militants who had taken over parts of the hospital and reported took several people including patients, doctors and visitors hostage.

The security sources said that four Frontier Corps (FC) personnel and three nurses were also killed in the blast and operation against terrorists in BMC Quetta.

Four terrorist were killed and one suspect was captured alive by the security forces from the BMC who was immediately taken to Barori Police Station for interrogation.

According to reports, some high ranking officials including DC Quetta Abdul Mansoor Kakar, Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Sadique and Additional SHO brewery police station Atiq Ahmad were also injured in BMC hospital blast, however, DC Quetta Abdul Mansoor Kakar later succumbed to his injuries.

IG Balochistan and Chief Secretary Balochistan were also present at BMC hospital when the blast took place.

Earlier, a blast occurred inside the bus of Sardar Bahadur Khan Women University at Quetta’s Barori road on Saturday that killed 11 students and injured 20 others, police said. The bus was completely destroyed in the bombing.

The dead bodies and injured students were shifted to the Bolan Medical Complex and CMH.
