8 coal miners abducted from Balochistan's Harnai district

QUETTA: As many as eight coal miners were abducted by a group of gunmen from Shahrag area of Balochistan’s Harnai district on Wednesday.

A security official who spoke on condition of anonymity said that eight coal miners who hailed from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and were working in coal mines for over 10 years were kidnapped by dozens of unknown gunmen.

The official said that the gunmen kidnapped the coal miners from Shahrag, an area which has rich coal reservoirs, and took them away in their vehicles towards nearby mountains.

Following the incident, the security forces launched a search operation in the area to recover the kidnapped coal miners.
