QUETTA, Pakistan: The security forces killed at least 10 militants after they launched an attack on Samungly airbase and Khalid military aviation base in Quetta early on Friday, seven security personnel were also injured in an exchange of fire with the militants.
A Frontier Corps spokesman said that the security has been beefed up in the area and the situation is under control. He confirmed that no damage was caused to installations at the bases during the attack.
The Balochistan police chief Muhammad Umlaish said that 11 rocket launchers were recovered from the Khalid military airbase while a huge quantity of arms and ammunition was recovered from the Samungli airbase.
Umlaish said that all injured security personnel were being treated in the Civil Military Hospital in Quetta cantonment.
In a statement, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that Samungly airbase and Khalid military airbase have been cleared now.
TTP faction claims responsibility for attack
The Ghalib Mehsud faction of the outlawed Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the attack on Samungly airbase and Khalid military airbase in Quetta.
