LAHORE, Pakistan: The Sri Lankan Cricket Team will return to Pakistan for a two-match Test Series in December 2019, another milestone for Pakistan Cricket as the International Test Cricket returns to the Country after 10 years.
The first Test match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka will be played at Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi from December 11-15 while the second Test will be played at National Stadium in Karachi from December 19-23.
Pakistan-Sri Lanka Test Series is part of World Test Championship
It was the Sri Lankan Cricket Team which narrowly escaped a terrorist attack in Lahore in March 2009 which shut the doors of International Cricket to Pakistan for almost a decade.
Recently, the Sri Lankan Team played two back-to-back One Day International (ODI) and T20 International Series in September/October in Karachi and Lahore.
Originally, Sri Lanka was scheduled to play Tests with Pakistan in October as well and then return in December for white-ball cricket but the matches were swapped to provide them the opportunity to assess the situation before deciding on the Test venues.
The Test series schedule was confirmed today (November 14) after Cricket Sri Lanka gave their thumbs-up to fulfill their Future Tours Programme commitment following a highly successful visit for white-ball cricket.
The tour not only delivered security from the top draw but packed houses sent out a loud and clear message about the security situation in the Country as well as passion for the game.
