DHAKA, Bangladesh: The Final of the T20 Asia Cup 2016 will be played on Sunday between India and Bangladesh at the Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.
India entered the tournament as ‘most favorites’ which eventually proved right as Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led team remained unbeaten throughout the event and became first side to quality for the final.
However, the final will not probably be as easy for India as some once can argue, considering Indian strong batting lineup and its top position in the current ICC T20 rankings. Because Bangladesh would be playing in front of its home crowd as well as its performance in the Asia Cup has been remarkable.
Though Bangladesh lost the opening the march of the tournament against India but then it lifted up its performance and beat two top sides in the world, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
In the Asia Cup, United Arab Emirates (UAE) remained the only team which could not even win a single game while Sri Lanka’s only victory was against UAE. Pakistan succeeded to gain success against UAE and Sri Lanka but lost to India and Bangladesh.
If India wins the final against Bangladesh, it will be the sixth time since 1984 that India emerges as victorious in the Asia Cup.
