The 12th ranked Zimbabwe have completely been thrashed by the visitors so far in the Twenty20 Tri-Series at Harare as following a 74 run-defeat at the hand of Pakistan, the Host also had a nightmare against Australia who suffered them another 100 runs defeat.
Certainly, Zimbabwe will be out of the scene for the final on July 8 if they don’t turn the tide in their favour against Pakistan on Wednesday.
Even Pakistan couldn’t uphold its winning streak against opponents on July 2, which had extended to eight T20Is. It were Australia which outclassed Pakistan in all departments and halted their way of consecutive victories.
Australia proved even more lethal against Zimbabwe when two teams met at Harare on Tuesday. While batting first, the Captain Aaron Finch’s blistering 172-run innings of just 76 balls with 10 sixes and 16 fours, Australia set almost an impossible 230 runs target for Zimbabwe to achieve.
In their stipulated 20 overs, Australia lost two of their batsmen. Besides Aaron Finch, D’Arcy Short was the other batsman with his 46, who contributed to Australia’s total of 229 for 2.
For Zimbabwe, Blessing Muzarabani was the only successful bowler as he bagged both Australian wickets.
In the pursuit of huge target, Zimbabwe had a fiery start as they had scored 42 runs in 3.2 overs but their wickets began crumbling. In the end, Zimbabwe managed to score 129 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs.
Andrew Tye and Ashton Agar remained the highest wicket takers for Australia with three and two wickets respectively.
