PALLEKELE: Sri Lanka have taken a lead of 291 runs in their second innings of third Test match against Pakistan at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on Sunday.

When stumps were drawn at the end of third day’s play, Sri Lanka were 228 for 5 while the Captain AD Mathews and Wicket Keeper batsman LD Chandimal were still at the crease with 77 and 39 runs respectively.

Sri Lanka had lost four wickets at only 80 but afterward, they established two good partnerships which let them take a lead of 291 runs with five wickets still remaining.

Pakistan’s Rahat Ali and Yasir Shah grabbed two wickets each while Ahsan Adil picked up one wicket.

Earlier on Sunday morning, in reply to Sri Lanka’s first innings total of 228 runs, Pakistan resumed their first innings at 209 for 9 but after adding only 6 more runs, they were all out for 215 runs. Last Pakistani player who got out was Imran Khan.

The Wicket Keeper batsman Sarfaraz Ahmed scored unbeaten 78 runs.

For Sri Lanka, KTGD Prasad, N Pradeep and PHT Kaushal took three wickets each while one Pakistani batsman Younis Khan got run out. Interestingly, the middle-order right-hand batsman was run out for the first time in nine years.

It is the three-match Test series between the two sides. Earlier, both the teams won one match each.

The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
