Rain yet another time played its role and washed out the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 group A match between Australia and Bangladesh at The Oval on Monday.
It was Australia’s second consecutive game which was affected by rain as earlier, its match against New Zealand also ended without any result following heavy showers.
Both Australia and Bangladesh were awarded one point each.
Rest of the Story was posted prior to the beginning of the ICC Champions Trophy match between Australia and Bangladesh at The Oval on June 5, 2017.
Following a lucky escape against New Zealand at Edgbaston on June 2, Australia will now look to dominate Bangladesh at The Oval on Monday in ICC Champions Trophy 2017 group A match.
Australia shared one point with New Zealand after the match between the two teams got abandoned because of consistent rain while Bangladesh lost to Host England in the augural match of the tournament at The Oval on June 1 despite having scored over 300 runs.
The two teams rarely meet each other in ODIs or couple of their previous encounters were washed out like the last one which took place in 2015 World Cup. Whereas the last ODI between Australia and Bangladesh which witnessed accomplishment was held more than six years ago.

So far rain has already interrupted a couple of matches in ICC Champions Trophy, and even for today’s game, rain has not been ruled out.
It will be the first day-night match of ICC Champions Trophy 2017 and as per record, 11 day-night matches have been played at The Oval, out of which seven were won by teams batting first.
Earlier on Sunday, India thrashed Pakistan in a one-sided match at Edgbaston, consolidating its dominance over Pakistan in ICC events.
The Duckworth/Lewis (D/L) method was applied in the rain-affected match and while chasing 289 runs in 41 overs under D/L, Pakistan got bowled out for just 164 runs, falling short of 124 runs.
It was India’s seventh consecutive win in ICC Champions Trophy.
It also showed how pathetic Pakistan’s batting performance is when it comes to chasing as in last five years, Pakistan has recorded the lowest average in top eight teams. During this period, Pakistan had to bat second 27 times while reaching the target of over 250 runs; however, Pakistan did it successfully only 5 times, recording a mere 18.52 winning percentage.
