KARACHI: The inaugural Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Ramzan T20 Cricket Tournament starts at National Stadium on Saturday (today).

Although, this event will be played in the absence of members of the Pakistan national team who are leaving for West Indies to play five one-day internationals and two T20 internationals against the hosts starting from July 14,reported PTV news.

According to the PCB officials, West Indies tour was pre-arranged so the PCB has no other option but to hold the event without these players.

On the opening day Habib Bank Limited will take on United Bank Limited while Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will face State Bank of Pakistan.

The tournament is carrying a handsome prize of Rs4 million. The winners will get Rs2 million and the runners-up Rs1 million.

Best batsman, best bowler and best all-rounder will get Rs50,000 each while man of the final will also get same amount. Rs25,000 will be given to the player of the match in each match while a batsmen hitting a six will get Rs5000.

Players hitting most sixes and fours, getting most wickets and most catches will pocket Rs25,000 each.

HBL, UBL, PIA, State Bank and Pakistan WAPDA are in Group A while Group B consists of National Bank of Pakistan, Port Qasim Authority, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines, Khan Research Laboratories and Zarai Tarqiati Bank Limited.

After the round robin league matches, top two teams from each pool will advance in the semi-finals which will be played on July 23-24 while the final will be contested on July 26.
