KASHGAR: Alpine Club of Pakistan mountaineering team participating in the Pak China Friendship Expedition 2013 to climb 7‚548 m high Mt Muztagh Ata crossed over to China from Khunjerab Pass late last night.

They were received at Tashkurgan‚ the border city on the China by representative of China Mountaineering Association. After necessary formalities‚ the team reached Kashgar this afternoon.

The team leader Rehamtullah speaking from Kashgar reported that all Pakistani members were in good health and high spirits. The Pakistani side expects to depart Kashgar and arrive Base Camp of the Mt Muztagh Ata to begin their climb soon after the arrival of Chinese members of this joint Pak China Expedition.

The objective of joint Pak China Friendship Expedition to Muztagh Ata is to foster friendship between the mountaineering communities of both China and Pakistan and to pay tribute to the slain Chinese mountaineers of Nanga Parbat Diamer Base Camp incident of 22nd of last month.
