Following Story was posted prior to the beginning of 2nd T20 between India and Sri Lanka at Indore on December 22, 2017.
Except the lone victory at Dharamsala One Day International (ODI), Sri Lanka’s tour to India has been full of disappointment and woes for the Visitors as following the two back-to-back defeats in ODI and Test series, Islanders now may face another fate with same outcomes in T20Is.
Losing the first T20 against India at Cuttack by 93 runs, Sri Lanka must now find a way to turn the table and bounce back in second T20 being played against the Home Side at Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore on Friday.
India is already leading the three-match series 1-0, and the next bilateral battle will begin at 13:30 GMT.
For second T20, Sri Lankan Side likely to consist of Niroshan Dickwella as wicketkeeper-batsman, Upul Tharanga, Kusal Perera, Angelo Mathews, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Asela Gunaratne, Dasun Shanaka, Thisara Perera as Captain, Akila Dananjaya, Dushmantha Chameera, and Nuwan Pradeep.
While in the absence of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma will continue to lead the Side in rest of series matches as well and his men for today’s encounter may include KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Dinesh Karthik, Manish Pandey, MS Dhoni as wicketkeeper-batsman, Hardik Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav, Basil Thampi, Jasprit Bumrah, and Yuzvendra Chahal.
In the first T20 played at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on December 20, India while batting first put 180 runs on board for 3 in stipulated 20 overs with KL Rahuls’ 61 as leading scorer.
However, Sri Lanka was all out just for 87 runs in 16 overs after its middle-order totally collapse. For India, Yuzvendra Chahal took 4 wickets.
As well indicated in ICC T20 rankings, 4th ranked India’s T20 record in 2017 has been much better than 8th ranked Sri Lanka as this year, India won seven matches out of 11 T20s while Sri Lanka managed to bag victories in just five T20s against eight.
