India looks to level the three-match ODI series against Australia after a 34 runs loss at Sydney on January 12 as they will again take on each other at Adelaide on Tuesday.

Both teams look equally poised though India following a Test series triumph began the ODI series as favourites. But Sydney victory has boosted Australia’s confidence as well.

The Aussies have always been dominant over India at Adelaide except the last occasion in 2012 when the latter cruised to a four-wicket victory. Prior to that, Australia had held a four-match winning streak against India at the venue.

In recent bilateral encounters in One Day Internationals (ODIs), India held a slight edge over Australia. Out of last five ODIs between the two teams, India won three matches but lost two to Australia.

Indian Squad for 2nd ODI (Probable):

Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli (Captain), Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni (Wicket Keeper), Kedar Jadhav/Dinesh Karthik, Ravindra Jadeja, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav, Khaleel Ahmed, Mohammed Shami

Australian Squad for 2nd ODI (Probable):

Aaron Finch (Captain), Alex Carey, Usman Khawaja, Shaun Marsh, Peter Handscomb, Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell, Peter Siddle, Jhye Richardson, Nathan Lyon, Jason Behrendorff

Earlier in the first ODI at Sydney Cricket Stadium (SCG), Jhye Richardson helped Australia to lead the series with four wickets especially of Virat Kohli.

While batting first, Australia scored 288 runs for five in 50 overs. Peter Handscomb, Usman Khawaja and Shaun Marsh struck fifties for Australia.

In response, India scored 254 for nine in stipulated overs, falling short of 34 runs. India had lost three quick wickets for just four runs but then a 137-run partnership between Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni brought back their side into the game. Both these players scored 133 and 51 runs respectively. But in the end, their contributions weren’t enough to steer India to a win.
