LAHORE, Pakistan: Pakistan’s Opening Batsman and former Captain Azhar Ali has announced to retire from One Day International (ODI) Cricket.

The 33-year-old right-handed batsman made the announcement about his retirement in a Press Conference at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Thursday.

 

With regard to his retirement, Azhar also reportedly took Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Chief Selector Inzamam Ul Haq into confidence.

Azhar Ali made his ODI debut for Pakistan on May 30, 2011 against Ireland at Belfast, in which he scored 39 runs. While his last ODI was against New Zealand at Dunedin on January 13, 2018. However, he failed to score a single run and got out on 0 in his last ODI for Pakistan.

For Pakistan, he played 53 ODIs, and with a batting average of 36.90 he scored 1,845 runs. He hit three hundreds and 12 fifties in his 53 ODIs innings.

However, Azhar Ali continues to remain an integral part of Pakistan’s Test Squad. In his 128 innings of 67 Tests, he has played for Pakistan, he has scored 5,303 runs with an average of 44.19.
