ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The National Press Club (NPC) on Saturday once again installed a big screen for viewers to watch the Asia Cup T20 match between Pakistan and India, though the game ended with a lot of disappointment of most faces as green shirts lost the match.
The big screen had been set up at the NPC located in F-6/1 Sector Islamabad where a large number of people including women gathered to watch the match.
The Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Division (CAAD) Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry was the chief guest. Besides prominent lawyer Ahmad Raza Kasuri and NPC President Shakeel Anjum were also among the attendees.
The participants were very enthusiastic and chanting slogans with Pakistani flags in their hands in support of Pakistan team as the match begun. However, the national team didn’t do well as they were bowled out for only 83 runs.
Most of the participants were unhappy the way the team batted while a couple of persons were of the view that the Captain Shahid Afridi made a mistake by opening the innings with Muhammad Hafeez and Sharjeel Khan. They argued that Khurram Manzoor should have opened the innings along with Sharjeel Khan.
The participants were once again excited and a hope was developed that Pakistan were still in the game after three Indian batsmen got out for 8 runs only. It all happened due to brilliant spell of bowling by Muhammad Amir. He eventually took three wickets for 18.
But in the end, Indian succeeded to reach the target of 84 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Virat Kohli received the man of the match award for his 49 runs.
Later, dinner was also served for the people after the match ended.
It was the second time within a week that the NCP made arrangements to bring people at one place to enjoy the match as last time the Club also installed a big screen for people to watch the Pakistan Super League (PSL) final between Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators on February 23.
In addition, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) also facilitated the people to watch the T20 between two traditional arch-rivals on big screen at Open Air Theater in Shakar Parian.
In a bid to provide people more entertainment, the CDA had also chalked out various programmes including food festival at the site for visitors.
