SKURDU, Pakistan: The second International Sarfaranga Cold Desert Rally 2018 is set to be held on World’s highest cold desert in Gilgit Baltistan from August 31 to September 2.

The three-day Car and Bike Rally – comprising on only 40 kilometers – is being organized by PakWheels.com and Mountain Dew in collaboration with the Gilgit Baltistan government.

In the rally, more than 80,000 expert drivers including both males and females from across the Country will participate.2nd Int’l Sarfaranga Cold Desert Rally being organized from August 31 to September 2

Prior to it, the first ever International Sarfaranga Cold Desert Rally was held in August 2017.

While briefing the Commissioner Baltistan Division Hamza Salik, the Deputy Commissioner Skardu Captain (retd) Nadeem Nasir told that the participants of the rally have been divided into nine categories including four prepared, four stock and one female category.

During the three-day rally, various regional and cultural programs including Polo matches, Zakh competition, and cultural shows have been chalked out. An exhibition of regional products and local dishes will also be held. 

In the end of the rally, the Chief Minister Gilgit Baltistan Hafiz Hafeezur Rehman will present prizes and gifts to the winners and participants.

Chief of the Air Staff expressed his gratitude for the honour of receiving the Bahrain Medal - First Class. On the sidelines of Bahrain International Airshow, Commander of Ninth Air Force (US Air Forces Central Command — AFCENT), Lieutenant General Derek France called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force. The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
