KABUL, Afghanistan: The Afghan Capital once again had to face a terror attack when a Sikh Gurdwara (temple) in Kabul was stormed by a group of militants on Wednesday, killing at least four people including a child.

However, the Taliban with whom the United States struck a historic peace deal in Doha on February 29 denied their involvement in the attack. But the ISIL (Da’esh) admitted to have carried out the attack at the Sikh place of worship.

It yet remains uncertain that exactly how many worshipers were present at the Gurdwara when the attack occurred but as per the Sikh Parliamentarian Narender Singh Khalsa, up to 200 people were inside the religious place.

Narender Singh Khalsa further told that four people including a child were killed in the attack while seven further were injured.

The Parliamentarian said that three suicide bombers along with gunmen also entered the temple.

Reportedly, an exchange of fire between the militants and the security forces was still continuing.

Meanwhile, Pakistan has strongly condemned the heinous terrorist attack on a Gurdwara in Kabul.

“Such despicable attacks have no political, religious or moral justification and must be rejected outright,” said a statement issued by the Foreign Office in Islamabad.

The statement said that our hearts go out to the families who have lost their loved ones in this inhuman act and we pray for the swiftest recovery of the injured.

“We also express our abiding solidarity with the fraternal people of Afghanistan,” it said. “Pakistan condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. All places of worship are sacrosanct and their sanctity must be respected at all times.”
