SocialDNA not acceptable as primary evidence in rape cases; says CII

ISLAMABAD: DNA as primary evidence is not acceptable in rape cases, the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) said on Wednesday, however adding that it could only be used as secondary evidence.

A meeting of the CII was held in Islamabad under the chair of Maulana Muhammad Khan Sherani on Wednesday.

During the meeting, the council said that DNA test is not acceptable but it could be considered as supporting evidence in rape cases. It said that Islam sets procedures to determine crime cases of rape.

The CII said that the existing Blasphemy Law should not be amended, saying that all the Prophets are equally respectable. Moreover, it declared that human cloning is prohibited.
