SocialCommuters face problems due to closure of Islamabad Metro Bus Service

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The commuters of the twin cities are facing problems for the last four days due to the closure of Metro Bus service as public transport vehicles plying on different roads do not complete their routes.

The residents of twin cities complained of suffering from suspended Metro bus service, especially students and government employees who use the bus service to commute from Islamabad to Rawalpindi.

While the public transport vehicles especially vans, mostly lift passengers only up to a particular destination instead of completing their routes forcing them to pay double fare for an incomplete journey.

The commuters who daily travel between the twin cities are facing problems due to non-compliance of routes number 1, 1C, 111, 24, 121, 21, 105, 120 and 127 by the public transporters.

A commuter Imran Nazir said that due to route violation of the transporters, he had to change two vans and pay double fare for the same route.

He said that there should be an effective mechanism to ensure route completion and grievances of the commuters should be addressed by the authorities concerned.

“I got a wagon of route number 1 from Zero Point and was forcefully dropped at Faizabad,” he complained.

The commuters said that the authorities concerned should take strict action against the transporters involved in route violations.

An official of Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) said that the commuters could complain to the traffic wardens available at various stops.

He said that the number of challans have been issued for route violation and overcharging on the complaints of the citizens.
