PESHAWAR, Pakistan: A high level meeting of Regional Police Officer (RPOs) with Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Nasir Khan Durrani in the chair held in Peshawar on Friday, decided to install biometric system in the courts for security purpose.

The participants included Additional IGP Special Branch, Additional IGP Operations, DIG CTD, CCPO, Peshawar, all the RPOs, the DIGP HQs, and the AIGP Establishment.

During the meeting, IGP directed the RPOs to install biometric system in the courts. In this regard, the RPOs will persuade the District & Sessions Judges to convene a meeting of Bar Association and Police to review the security of the court premises.

The finger prints of all the employees, members of bar association, the lawyers and other regular visitors to be recorded who shall be allowed to enter after biometric verification.

The other persons would not be allowed to enter the court premises until and unless they produce the summons issued by the court for the said date.

However, it has been directed that the proposed system will not create any inconvenience to the judges, lawyer, bar members and staff of the courts.

All the participants highly appreciated the role being played by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police in the ongoing war on terrorism and praised the sacrifices rendered by the police personnel in the latest incidents of terrorism including the militant attack on Shabqadar Courts.

The participants stressed the need to boost the morale of the police constabulary performing the most herculean tasks in these turbulent conditions.

The IGP reiterated that being commanders it is our duty to protect and maintain the honour and dignity of the force.

In the meeting, the prevalent security situation was also discussed. An offensive-cum-defensive strategy was devised to counter and thwart the emerging tactics adopted by the militants to attack the soft targets.

It was decided to beef up the security of all the sensitive installations including educational institutions, government establishments, foreign projects, minority worship places etc.

The IGP stressed the need to carry out joint search and strike operations to purge the settled areas of any militant cells and their facilitators-cum-sympathizers.

It was also highlighted that the police checking on the arteries connecting FATA and tribal areas to the settled areas would be enhanced.

The RPOs were directed to sensitize the management of educational institutions, bus terminals, hospitals and other vulnerable and sensitive establishments to play their role in enhancing security and extend full cooperation to the police.

The IGP highlighted that the importance of the support of civil society and general masses in the ongoing war on terror being fought by the Pakistan Army, Police and other LEAs.

The IGP directed the RPOs to utilize the services of members of Public Liaison Councils established in the Village and Neighbourhood Councils.
