ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The polling on vacant seats of the Upper House of the Parliament – Senate – is underway on Tuesday.
In the Federal Capital, polling has begun at the National Assembly Hall for the election of two Senators.
Ishaq Dar of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Raja Ansar Kayani of Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) are vying for the Technocrat Seat while for the General Geat, the competition is between Rana Mahmood ul Hassan of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and SIC’s Farzand Hussain Shah.
In Punjab, voting is being held on 2 Women and Technocrats Seats each and 1 Minority Seats of Women in the province.
In Sindh, 19 Candidates are contesting for 12 seats including 7 General Seats, 2 Women, 2Technocrats/Ulema and 1 non-Muslim Seat in the province.
The polling process will continue till 4 in the afternoon.
Meanwhile, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa polling for elections on 11 Senate Seats could not be started as decision of the Peshawar High Court (PHC) regarding oath of MPAs on reserved seats is pending.
