PoliticsSC sets Sept 13 deadline for government to appoint NAB chairman

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Thursday set September 13 as the deadline for the federal government to appoint Chairman of National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

During today’s hearing of a case pertaining to NAB chairman appointment in the apex court, the attorney general apprised the court that some names for the slot were under consideration.

On this, the chief justice remarked that an appropriate time was given to appoint the NAB chairman. The time has ended, he said, and asserted that the slot be filled at the earliest.

The Chief Justice said non-appointment of the NAB chief will create complications. Later, he ordered the government to appoint the chairman till September 13.

Meanwhile, leader of the opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khurshid Shah called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad today and discussed matters related to appointment of new Chairman NAB.
