Monitoring Desk: Saudi Arabia-based Delta Energy Group on Monday signed a series of agreements with the Taliban’s Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, reports Amu News. Under agreement, Saudi company would also do study proposed 700-kilometer pipeline. Former US envoy Zalmay Khalilzad attended the signing ceremony in Kabul.

The agreements include an exploration and production-sharing contract covering the Kushk and Tirpul area, which Delta Energy said spans about 23,317 square kilometers and consists of 11 blocks.
Delta Energy described the broader program as potentially involving tens of billions of dollars in investment, approximately $50 billion over 25 years for the integrated program and later referred to an estimated $60 billion in potential investment over 10 years across exploration, field development, gas utilization, pipeline infrastructure and related facilities.

Taliban Mines and Petroleum Minister Hidayatullah Badri described the agreements as an important step toward developing Afghanistan’s hydrocarbon resources.
