Zaka Ashraf reinstated as PCB chief

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday reinstated Chaudhry Zaka Ashraf as Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), seven months after he was dismissed by the same court.

A two-member bench of the IHC comprising Justice Noor-ul-Haq Qureshi and Justice Riaz Ahmed reinstated Zaka Ashraf to his post on his intra-court appeal.

Zaka Ashraf was appointed as PCB chairman on October 27, 2011 by the then President Asif Ali Zardari. However, in June 2013, the IHC judge Justice Shaukat Aziz stopped him from working as PCB chief after hearing a petition challenging his election on the grounds that the process of his election was not transparent.

Later, Zaka Ashraf filed an intra-court appeal against his dismissal from the post of PCB chairman. In response to which, the IHC today annulled court’s previous decision and reinstated Zaka Ashraf to his post.
