ISLAMABAD: Former chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chaudhry Zaka Ashraf on Tuesday moved to the Islamabad High Court (IHC) against his removal from the said post.
On Monday, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who is also patron-in-chief of the PCB, dissolved the governing body of the cricket board and also sacked Chairman Zaka Ashraf.
The prime minister constituted an eleven member committee headed by Najam Sethi and including Shehriyar Khan, Zahir Abbas, Navid Akram, Shakil Shaikh, Iqbal Qasim, Yousuf Khokhar, Amir Tariq Zaman to manage the affairs of the cricket board on an ad-hoc basis.
In the petition filed by his lawyer, the former PBC chairman said that he was sacked unconstitutionally. He argued that the notification issued by the government, regarding his removal was illegal and it should be declared null and void.
The IHC chief justice will take up the petition for hearing on Wednesday.
