Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif went to the house of Sonia at village Dinpura near Muzaffargarh who self-immolated here due to non provision of justice and expressed grief and sorrow with her parents over this heartrending incident. The Chief Minister expressed sympathies and condolences with the parents of Sonia and assured that justice will be provided to the affected family at every cost. He said that accused involved in this incident will not escape deterrent punishment. Shehbaz Sharif strongly reprimanded DPO Muzaffargarh and said that if this is the situation in Police stations under your control, then how a common man will get justice. The Chief Minister asked was it not the responsibility of police to immediately take action on the complaint. He said that non-redressal of grievance of an oppressed lady reflects poor performance of DPO.

Had police provided justice and redressed her grievance in police station, she would not have been forced to self-immolate, he added. Shehbaz Sharif ordered immediate suspension of concerned DSP and said that the absconder SHO and other accused involved in the incident should be arrested at the earliest. He also directed to register a case against ASI forcing reconciliation. He said that provision of justice is the responsibility of police. He said that if system is strong and working properly then people will get justice from police stations.
Talking to media and the parents of Sonia, Shehbaz Sharif said that provision of justice to the affected family will be ensured at every cost. He said that perpetrators of this act will not escape punishment. He said that the incident will be investigated thoroughly and case will be sent to anti-terrorist court.

He said that Punjab government will pursue the case. The Chief Minister said that police stations should be symbol of help for the people and terror for the cruel. He said that justice should be provided to the oppressed in police stations. He said that provision of justice to the people and redressal of grievances of the oppressed is top priority of police. Shehbaz Sharif said that he is deeply grieved over this heartrending incident in Muzaffargarh. He said that police is the guardian of life and property of the people and it should discharge its responsibility efficiently. He said that the police officials who created hindrances in the provision of justice and committed cruelty will not escape punishment. He said that a precious human life was lost but police did not provide justice. He said that those responsible for self-immolation of Sonia in Muzaffargarh will be awarded punishment.

The Chief Minister said that he will ensure justice to the affected family at every cost and will not rest content till the provision of justice to the parents of Sonia. He expressed condolences with the parents of Sonia and offered Fateha for the departed soul. Parents of Sonia informed the Chief Minister about the details of the incident. Shehbaz Sharif consoled parents of Sonia and assured provision of justice to them. Inspector General Police Punjab also accompanied the Chief Minister. Shehbaz Sharif was told that SHO Police Station Sadar Noor Hussain and Constable Abdul Qayyum Dasti have been arrested while SHO Police Station City is absconder and action is continuing for his arrest and of other accused.
