KARACHI: A five-member bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan will resume hearing of the Karachi law and order situation case on Thursday.
The bench is headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and comprises Justices Jawwad S. Khawaja, Khilji Arif Hussain, Amir Hani Muslim and Azmat Saeed.
The larger bench is it is pertinent to mention here that several city areas are under a strike-like situation on the killing of Zafar Baloch, a spokesman of the outlawed People’s Aman Committee, who was gunned down in a drive-by shooting incident last night.
This hearing is first since early September visit of the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to Karachi when the Federal Cabinet decided to launch a targeted operation in the metropolis spearheaded by the Rangers.
On 30th August, Director General, Sindh Rangers, had told the court that the issue of missing 19,000 arms containers came to limelight many years ago. He said the missing containers were opened during the tenure of the former minister for ports and shipping.
Babar Ghouri had requested the court he be allowed to a become party in the case after the report accused him of connivance in the alleged arms smuggling issue.
