BNU BESTIVAL
Adnan Jahangir with Zaeem Yaqboob Khan

While running the constant updates about the Besitval ’14, I have had the pleasure of meeting many talented people who are out to prove themselves. So it was quite a strange change of personalities when I by chance had the opportunity to interview some of the judges of the Visual Arts contests.
Before you ask, the judges in question were Adnan Jahangir and Abbrar Cheema. For those of you who are unaware, not only are they quite renowned in their respective fields, I personally couldn’t help but be inspired by the passion each of them held for their art (not to mention the results that popped up in the follow up internet search).

Both of the judges were quite ecstatic about the amount of talent that the youngsters had displayed in their performances and honestly had nothing but words of encouragement for them. Their stance being that in a society where visual arts and photography aren’t really understood in a positive sense, these students not only displayed a sense of talent that was surprising considering most of them have had no professional training to begin with. They also went on to say that with a bit of proper professional training they could see great things for these students.
Now one should remember that Adnan Jahangir and Abbrar Cheema started their journey in the world of arts when our society was even more conservative on these issues then it is now. So, it was only natural for them to praise the Bestival team for their immense efforts in organizing such an event but also to promote the arts in their true form rather the convoluted garbage our society portrays it as. Mr. Abbrar Cheema (Photographer) went on the record to further add his own message that while all of the students (organizers and participants) did have a talent, they should always remember the earth they come from and take the time out to serve their nation in any way they can. While Mr. Adnan Jahangir (choreographer)’s final thoughts on Bestival ’14 were that such events promoted a positive sense in the masses and should be hosted more to encourage liberalness in our society.
