No decision on military operation in tribal areas taken as yet: Nisar

ISLAMABAD: The federal minister for interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Friday categorically stated that neither a military operation is being carried out in the tribal areas nor any decision of this sort has been taken as yet.

The interior minister informed the National Assembly in response to a point of order raised by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmaker Dr. Arif Alvi. The minister said that the decision of military operation will be taken with consultation.

Meanwhile, Nisar assured the house that a policy framework will be evolved in the next few days to provide all possible relief to those people who are migrating from the tribal areas.

Chaudhry Nisar said that a committee under the minister for SAFRON has already been constituted to look into the matter of fleeing people. He said that the interior ministry‚ FATA and Governor Secretariat will support the effort of the SAFRON ministry.

However, the minister said that the flow of people from the tribal areas is not as much as has been reported. He said that those moved from the tribal areas have also preferred to live with their relatives in Bannu‚ Peshawar and other areas.
