The final of the T20I Tri-Series 2022 between Pakistan and New Zealand will be played at Hagley Oval in Christchurch on October 14.

Both teams won three matches each out of their respective four T20Is in the series and secured 6 points each. However, New Zealand was placed atop in the points table on account of a better net run-rate (NRR).

The third participant Bangladesh could not seal a single victory in the event; therefore, they failed to gain any point.

Pakistan and New Zealand won both of their respective games against Bangladesh, and produced 1-1 result in matches against each other.

In the first match between them at Christchurch on October 08, Pakistan claimed a comfortable win against New Zealand but in their second encounter two days later, the host settled the score with a 9-wicket victory.

While chasing, openers Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam built a 101 runs partnership before the latter got out on 55.

Babar struck his 29th T20I fifty and Rizwan scored 69 runs, registering his 22th fifty in T20Is. Mohammad Nawaz also smashed 45 runs off 20 balls without losing his wicket.

Pakistan reached the target in 19.5 overs with 7 wickets still in hand.

It was the first time Pakistan featured in a T20I Tri-Series hosted by New Zealand.

Previously, Pakistan toured New Zealand thrice for bilateral T20I Series in December 2010, January 2016, and December 2020.
