Islamabad: The Minister for Education, Trainings and Standards in Higher Education Mr.Baligh ur Rehman, has acknowledged the resolve of the provincial governments to improve education indicators. He has appreciated that the governments both at federal and provincial levels have developed a consensus that preparation of skilled manpower is indeed the need of the hour. It is pertinent to mention here, that National Skills Strategy (2009-13) has entered into the last year of its implementation. NAVTTC along with provincial TEVTAs have implemented it in collaboration with GIZ and ILO for the last five years.

The Minister of State has directed the Federal Ministry to review the status of Implementation of National Skills Strategy. In this backdrop it has been decided that all next actions and strategies in the Skill Development Sector shall take place after consultations with the provinces. Before moving towards next phase of any Skill Development Strategy, it needs to be confirmed what achievements have been made under the NSS 2009-13. The Minister has accordingly requested the provincial authorities to share their knowledge about the status and outcomes of activities undertaken by National Skills Strategy in their province.

The Minister of State has written a letter to all the concerned Ministers in the provinces to join hands for a solid feedback. The Minister has hoped that provinces shall lead and shape up future course of action in Skilling Pakistan. Concerned authorities in TVET Sector have also been requested to develop their Provincial Action Plans and indicate the resources required in the next five years, so that the same can be reflected in the next national strategy.
