ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The incumbent Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif will likely be next Prime Minister of Pakistan following the disqualification of Nawaz Sharif from his Office.

Sources said that the former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif suggested the name of Shahbaz Shabaz for the Premiership while according to some media reports, the former Federal Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique has confirmed the finalization of Shahbaz Sharif’s name for next PM.

Sources said that the former Federal Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi will likely be brought in as the interim prime minister for 45 days as Shahbaz Sharif doesn’t hold the membership of national assembly and he will have to win a by-election for NA seat.

However, names of Ayaz Sadiq, Ahsan Iqbal and Khurram Dastgir are also being brought under consideration for the interim prime minister.

Similarly since Nawaz Sharif remained no longer of President Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) following his disqualification, his wife Kulsoom Nawaz will be appointed as the Party President.

However, official announcements regarding the above move will be made after the parliamentary party of PML-N will hold an important meeting at Punjab House in Islamabad on Saturday to nominate next prime minister.

Talking to media, Senior PML-N leader Dr Musadik Malik said that the party would fulfill all the promises made with the people in 2013 elections.

Musadik Malik said that PML-N would continue the development projects to facilitate the people and all the projects would be completed before next elections.

On Friday, a five-member bench of the Supreme Court while announcing the Panama verdict unanimously disqualified Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif under article 62(1)(f) of the Constitution.

The Court also directed the national accountability bureau to file references against Nawaz Sharif, his Children, Ishaq Dar and Captain (retd) Muhammad Safdar within six weeks.
