ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said that the 11-party opposition alliance of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) is unnatural, and is destined to disintegrate.
In a statement while reacting to the Press Conference of the Chairman Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Qureshi said that the people of different views have gathered under the umbrella of the PDM to secure the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) and get relief in their Corruption Cases.
The minister said that the meeting of the PPP’s Central Executive Committee (CEC) has made it clear that the PPP has withdrawn from the PDM’s narrative.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that the PPP has decided to contest the Senate Elections and By-elections. He said that if they had been serious in tendering resignations from assemblies en bloc, they would not have desired for taking part in By-elections.
On Tuesday, in its meeting the PPP’s CEC endorsed the PDM’s decision to collect resignations of its Parliamentarians by December 31 and also ruled out any talks with the government until Prime Minister Imran Khan resigns.
However, it decided to contest the upcoming Senate Elections as well as By-elections, arguing that non-participation in the polls would allow the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to get further strengthened.
