PoliticsMurad Saeed lambasts opposition for prioritizing their leaders’ arrest issue over Kashmir

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Minister for Communication Murad Saeed on Thursday said instead of making hue and cry on the arrest of their leaders, the opposition parties should have raised the voice for the rights of Kashmiri people.

Speaking in the National Assembly on Thursday after the members on the opposition benches condemned the arrest of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Leader Khursheed Shah by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), the minister said they should have given the message that the entire Pakistan and Parliament stand shoulder-to-shoulder with their Kashmiri brethren.

The minister said anti-graft body was an independent institution and functioning as per its law. He reminded that the NAB Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal was appointed by the previous government with the consultation of PPP. He said it was also Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and PPP who earlier used to accuse each other of corruption.

Murad Saeed said it was the first time that Hindutva face of India had been unmasked by Pakistan at the international level. He said the world today was supporting Pakistan’s stance on Kashmir dispute.

Earlier, the PPP and PML-N leaders expressed reservations on the arrest of Syed Khursheed Shah.

They said it was collective responsibility of all the political parties to work for the protection of sanctity of the Parliament and Parliamentary democracy. They said Khursheed Shah should have been allowed to explain his position in the House after issuing his production orders.
