ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will hear Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) plea against the appointment of Maryam Nawaz as the Vice-President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on May 27, 2019 at 10:00 am.
The PTI lawmakers have been issued notices by the ECP informing them that the petition against the PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz has been fixed for hearing on May 27.
The PTI lawmakers including Farrukh Habib, Malika Bukhari, Javeria Zafar and Kanwal Shauzab pleaded to set Maryam’s appointment as the PML-N Vice-President aside.
They maintained that Maryam Nawaz’s appointment is in contradiction to the Constitution since she has been disqualified from holding a party position.
Commenting on the matter, the PTI lawmaker in the National Assembly Farrukh Habib said that like Bilawal Zardari, Maryam Nawaz also seeks to inherit a political property.
Farrukh Habib said that she has been convicted by the Country’s courts and is not eligible to hold a party position.
