GARHI KHUDA BAKHSH, Pakistan: The Chairman Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Wednesday paid homage to Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto on her 10th death anniversary, and said she was a symbol of hope and enlightenment.
In his address to a large public gathering at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh in Larkana held to mark 10 years of martyrdom of Benazir Bhutto, Bilawal lamented that murderers of the former PPP Chairperson and Country’s prime minister were still spilling blood of innocent citizens.
The Chairman PPPP said democracy became Orphan after Benazir Bhutto’s assassination. He said it was PPP which introduced 18th Constitutional amendment and gave Khyber Pakhtunkhwa its identity.
Earlier, the Co-Chairman PPP and former President Asif Ali Zardari said while addressing the congregation that he never saw a person braver than Benazir Bhutto.
Asif Ali Zardari said Shaheed Benazir Bhutto was an exemplary leader.
“Bilawal and I are taking Benazir’s mission forward. Leaders will come and go but name of Bhutto will live on,” the former president said.
The Central leaders of PPP including the former Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani, the Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah, and Senator Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan among others also addressed the gathering and paid glowing tributes to Shaheed Benazir Bhutto.
Benazir Bhutto, who became the first female Prime Minister of Muslim World in 1988 and then was re-elected in 1993 for the Office, was assassinated at Liaquat Bagh, Rawalpindi on December 27, 2007 as she was leaving the Site after addressing a Jalsa.
