ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Friday arrested a local magistrate, Farrukh Nadeem, from the Islamabad High Court (IHC) premises on the charges of receiving bribe of Rs 1.5 million in a land transfer case.

The arrest was made after a single bench of the IHC comprising Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui cancelled Nadeem’s protective bail granted by the Lahore High Court.

The accused had filed a plea for extension in interim bail, stating that the case filed against him was baseless and untrue.

Meanwhile, the court dismissed his plea and ordered the arrest of Farrukh Nadeem, a former tehsildar magistrate.
