The PML-N leader said that no allegation was proved against Nawaz Sharif. He said that history will not accept this decision. “Our reservations were proved right,” he said.

Barrister Zafarullah said that Nawaz Sharif presented himself for accountability. He said that we agreed to the formation of Joint Investigation Team (JIT) despite our reservations, and even the JIT couldn’t prove corruption of single a penny on the part of Nawaz Sharif.

Barrister Zafarullah said that the JIT report was based on source documents, and on details provided by anonymous informers. He said that separation of powers in prosecution and judiciary wasn’t followed in Panama Papers Case.

Earlier in the day, the Supreme Court of Pakistan disqualified Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Panama Papers Case.

In a unanimous verdict, the five-member larger bench of the apex court headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa disqualified the prime minister over his failure to mention the United Arab Emirates (UAE)-based Capital FZE Company in the nomination papers of 2013.

The Supreme Court directed the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to de-notify Nawaz Sharif as member of the National Assembly from NA-120 with immediate effect.

The Court asked National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to file references against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, MNA Captain (retd) Muhammad Safdar, Maryam Nawaz, Hussain Nawaz and Hassan Nawaz on the basis of Joint Investigation Team (JIT) report in six weeks time.

The Court directed NAB to complete trial of the Cases in six months.
