ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif will undertake a day-long visit to flood-affected areas of Sindh on Friday in an effort to provide immediate relief to affected families.

The prime minister will visit areas of Sukkur, Rohri, Khairpur, Faiz Ganj, Kot Diji and Thari Mirwah to oversee flood relief & rehabilitation work and meet the flood victims.

During his visit, representatives of the Sukkur District Administration and the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) will give a comprehensive briefing to the prime minister about the ongoing work to help flood victims and restore the infrastructure.

Later, the Chief Secretary Sindh and the Chief Engineer Sukkur Barrage will brief the prime minister about devastation caused by floods.

The widespread floods have caused devastation in vast areas of Sindh which is hampering the relief efforts.

According to the initial estimates, 3.4 million people have been affected by the floods in Sindh and almost 1.5 million people have been displaced in the province.
