ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi will visit Kabul on Friday (April 6, 2018) for talks with the Afghan leadership, the Foreign Office said on Saturday.

During his day-long visit to Kabul, the prime minister will meet the Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and the Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah, and discuss Pak-Afghan relations, war against terrorism, and use of Afghan soil against Pakistan.

The prime minister’s visit will take place on an invitation extended by the Afghan president when the National Security Adviser Lt. General (retd) Nasser Khan Janjua visited Kabul on March 17 and met President Ashraf Ghani.

“It is a welcoming development, and part of our continuous dialogue and engagement with Afghanistan and the international community for a lasting solution to the Afghan problem,” said the Foreign Office Spokesman Dr Muhammad Faisal at his weekly media briefing in Islamabad on March 29 in reference to the Afghan president’s invitation to Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to visit Kabul.
