ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan has announced not to attend any private function with protocol and security any longer in a bid to “save taxpayer money and avoid inconvenience to the public”.

“To save taxpayer money & avoid inconvenience to the public I will not be going to any private function with protocol & security,” the prime minister said in a Twitter statement on Tuesday.

The prime minister said that he is also reviewing protocol and security for ministers, governors, and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief Ministers to decide how we can minimize expenditure and end public inconvenience.

Imran Khan said that next week, the Federal Cabinet will decide on a comprehensive policy in this regard.

“We will put an end to the colonial legacy of pomp & glory used to overwhelm the people,” he said.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Imran Khan presided over a meeting of the Federal Cabinet in Islamabad which discussed the overall political and economic situation of the Country.
