ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif has said that a peaceful Afghanistan can open regional connectivity and help in sharing the benefits of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.

In his address at the CENTCOM Asia Security Conference in Marshal Centre in German City of Munich on Tuesday, the COAS said that despite hurdles, peace and reconciliation in Afghanistan is vital for regional peace and security.

Raheel Sharif called upon all the Afghan stakeholders to revive the reconciliation process.



The COAS stressed practical steps for better management of the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. He said that effective management of the border is imperative for successful conclusion of the military operation Zarb-e-Azb against terrorists.

Moreover, the Pakistan army chief reaffirmed the commitment to address the menace of terrorism for socio-economic development of the country.

Earlier on Monday, the COAS reached Munich to attend the Central & South Asia Security Conference.
