RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: Pakistan’s armed forces have strongly condemned blasphemous remarks by Indian officials.

“The outrageous act is deeply hurtful and clearly indicates extreme level of hate against Muslims and other religions in India,” said the Director-General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Babar Iftikhar in a Twitter statement on Monday.

The highly derogatory remarks by two senior officials of India’s ruling party Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) about the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) prompted a strong response from the Muslim World.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad also summoned the Indian Charge d’ Affaires and conveyed Pakistan’s categorical rejection and strong condemnation of the derogatory remarks.

The Indian Charge d’ Affaires was told that these remarks are totally unacceptable and have not only deeply hurt the sentiments of the people of Pakistan but of Muslims across the world.
