Pakistan summons Iranian envoy over killing of FC soldiers at border

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Foreign Office on Saturday summoned the Iranian ambassador to Pakistan Ali Raza Haghighian, and lodged a strong protest with him over the death of a Frontier Corps (FC) soldier by the Iranian border guards.

The Iranian border guards opened unprovoked firing in Mand tehsil of Balochistan’s Kech district on Friday, and killed a FC soldier and injured four others.

The diplomatic sources said that the Foreign Office demanded the Iranian ambassador to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.

Earlier in the day, the Iranian forces again fired mortar shells into the Pakistani territory.

The security officials said that the Iranian border guards fired three mortar shells in the Mashkail tehsil of Balochistan’s Washuk district. However, no casualty was reported in the attack, they added.
