Islamabad/Moscow: Ambassador of Pakistan to the Russian Federation, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, on Tuesday called on the Deputy Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation, Mr. Andrey Malyshev, in Moscow, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations through enhanced cultural engagement.
During the meeting, both sides held detailed discussions on expanding Pakistan–Russia cultural cooperation across a wide range of areas, including performing arts, cinematography, exhibitions, libraries, museums, cultural forums, arts, and drama. The talks reflected the growing recognition in both capitals that cultural diplomacy can play a vital role in bringing the peoples of Pakistan and Russia closer.
Ambassador Tirmizi underlined the importance of deepening cultural ties as an essential pillar of overall Pakistan–Russia relations. He highlighted Pakistan’s rich and diverse cultural heritage and emphasized the country’s readiness to forge meaningful and sustained cooperation with Russia in the cultural sphere. The ambassador’s proactive engagement was widely seen as part of his broader efforts to diversify and strengthen bilateral relations beyond traditional political and economic domains.
Deputy Minister Andrey Malyshev acknowledged the vast potential for cultural collaboration between the two countries, noting that people-to-people contacts and institutional linkages could significantly enhance mutual understanding. He also drew attention to the Russian Ministry of Culture’s library modernization initiative, suggesting that it could offer valuable opportunities for cooperation and knowledge-sharing with Pakistan.
Both sides agreed to maintain the momentum of cultural cooperation and to explore practical avenues for implementing joint initiatives in the coming period. The meeting underscored Ambassador Tirmizi’s constructive role in promoting soft-power diplomacy and advancing Pakistan–Russia relations through cultural connectivity.
